📕 Build AI Agents using LangGraph.js is now out!

Newsletter #63 – AI Agents with JavaScript, Tech Job Market, Multimodal AI Agents and more

Almost three weeks have passed and it's time for a new edition of the JS-Craft newsletter. Let’s dive in:

🎙 I've published a new podcast Akos Komuves Senior Software Dev & author of React Testing Library Crash Course. We talked about his journey into programming, his approach to writing & teaching, how he balances a fulltime job and part-time content creation, and family life. We also talked the impact of AI on software dev and more. Akos Komuves podcast

📘 Super happy to share that I've added 2 brand new chapters to the "Building Al Agents with LangGraph.js" book. One chapter focuses on multimodal AI Agents (using images and audio), while the other focuses on the ReAct architecture for AI Agents.

✍️ I've noticed that writing a technical book feels so close to writing software; PR's and incrementing in versions, using Vs Code as my editor, refactoring a lot, using code snippets and autocomplete. I love love this process!

🚨 While everyone's talking about DeepSeek R1, the real game-changer is R1-Zero. In this video, Ishan Anand breaks down how this model eliminated multiple steps in traditional AI training, going straight from base model to reasoning chatbot in one giant leap. Btw, Ishan was also a quest at the JS Craft podcast. You can watch my talk with Ishan here.

📺 Checkout this really good talk by Solomon Hykes, co-founder of Docker, on AI Agents and using container technology. So many possibilities here.

📦 Also checkout Kaiban.js. It's a JavaScript framework for building and orchestrating Multi AI Agent systems. I've learned a lot by reading it's source code on GitHub. Special thanks to Michael - a former participant to the AI Agents class workshop - for showing me this project.

👨‍💻 Regarding the LangChain, LangGraph and AI Agents Class Workshop a new class will start in May 2025! This hands-on class is based on my personal map of topics to learn and not-so-intuitive solutions to common problems when building with LLMs. There's an early booking discount available. Just reply to this email if you have any questions.

💼 I use trueup.io to monitor the tech jobs market. The tech job market is slowly but surely continuing to grow at a natural pace. I don't think AI will take over our jobs! As long as you are competent in what you do, AI will make high-tech jobs even more important!high tech jobs stats Mar 2025

🐤 Over the past few weeks, I've been less active on social media. Some of the things I've noticed. 1. Social media is so so so loud and distracting. It decreases focus and happiness. 2. Social media helps with sales. I've been less active and my sales decreased. 3. Social media consumes time. My daily screen time is down by about 40 min.

☯️ On the same note I've started to use my iPhone in black-white. So far I've seen it's easier to focus while using it plus that my baby daughter is not interested anymore to grab it. Digital minimalism 🙂

🦜 The fine folks from the core LangChain team are organizing the Interrupt conference between 13-14 May. The main topic is AI Agents. If you are in San Francisco during that interval, you may give a try.

💬 From Nov to Feb we lived in Estepona, Spain (60k population). Now we are back in Bucharest (2.5M population). Huge difference in life quality. When we have a multi-year POC that remote works at a global level, it's pure cruelty to force people to return to the office in hyper-crowded stressful areas and spend 2h in traffic daily, instead of using that time to be with their family.

🖱 Switched from Apple’s Magic Mouse to the Logitech Lift! I love how it keeps my hand in a natural position; no more wrist tension and the end of the day. And it pairs perfectly with my Dygma Raise split keyboard.home office setup

And that’s a wrap for this edition of the JS-Craft newsletter! Be kind, keep coding, and keep learning! See you the next time!
