This edition of the JS-Craft newsletter was made and sent from the beautiful south of Spain. Decided to do a short family work-action here, to escape the cold weather of Bucharest. Letβs dive in:
π My friend Ishan Anand hosts a new cohort for the How AI & LLMs Work class. I've personally taken this class and I highly recommend it! It's not a superficial introduction. Ishan has a deep understanding of how LLMs work and explains it all in a clear and very detailed manner. A lot of technical details and is one of the best courses I've taken in recent years.
π In case you missed it, last week I recorded a new podcast episode with Jason Sweet. Jason is the author of Professional Rails Testing, a consultant, podcaster, speaker, and a great guy. We talked about entrepreneurship, AI, and book writing.
π Speaking of AI I think the LLMs orchestration via code is much more powerful (and fun) than relying on just pure prompt engineering. This is one of the reasons I've written my book on π LangChain, and why I believe in this framework. As Harrison Chase (founder of LangChain) says, it is all about communication!
πΌ AI will not take your Software Engineer job as Excel did not take the jobs of accountants. It only allowed us to make better and more complex systems. Great point made by Steve Sewell, CEO of Builder.io, in this video . The only engineers who will fall behind are engineers who won't use LLMs; just imagine accountants not using Excel nowadays.
πΏ The fine folks at LangChain updated their Introduction to LangGraph course with a brand new chapter. It's dedicated to providing long-term memory to AI Agents. You can sign up for free.
π And speaking of LangGraph I've also written a longer article on how to add Human In The Loop for AI Agents using LangGraph and JavaScript.
π§ If you are working on AI Agents or RAG projects, you may want to listen to this great talk between Jason Liu and Sam Whitmore, CEO of New Computer. I particularly loved the part about the usage of LangSmith.
π¦Ά After the long walks here in Spain, I'm thinking about re-adding a walking treadmill to my home office setup. I feel that long slow walks reduce back pain, and help you to stay energized and use less coffee.
πͺπΈ In the same vibe, I've discovered I love the Spanish weather. 22Β°C in mid-November is incredible! For me, good weather, and working outdoors directly translates to more motivation and energy to create meaningful work. This might seem paradoxical, as Iβve heard many people prefer rainy weather to help them focus.
And thatβs a wrap for this edition of the JS-Craft newsletter! Be kind, keep coding, keep learning, and Hasta Luego βοΈπͺπΈπ!
