[Js-Craft #43] A new member of the family, uploading multiple files in React, NextJs light dark mode and more

Hi friends! It's Daniel here. The guy who runs the Js-Craft website. I know it's been a while since the August edition of this newsletter but I have some big news to share.

At the end of September, our daughter was born. Her name is Caroline, and she is the cutest thing ever:

Even if the vast majority of my free time was spent changing diapers I was able to squeeze a bit of time to put together an article on how to upload multiple files in React and using the Javascript Fetch API to autosave a form.

Also, added a few more tutorials on NextJs:

• NextJs 13 – adding a simple light-dark mode
• Adding a background image to a NextJS app
• Replace the browser URL when a user clicks on a NextJs Link

By the way NextJs 14 was released a few days ago.

And finally, did take a look at the new HTML dialog element:

• first part: Reading Data, Opening , and Styling the dialog
• the second part: Adding a close icon for an HTML dialog.

🛠 A new tool that I've started to use

For the past few weeks, I've been using the Freedom app to protect my focus while working.

It allows you to define a list of distracting websites (eq: Instagram, Youtube) and it will block your browser from accessing them during some time interval. Works great for me!

Heard about this tool while reading the book So good they can't ignore, by Call Newport.
